Walking Taco Casserole is a fun and flavorful twist on traditional tacos. It combines the elements of a classic taco with the convenience of a casserole, making it an excellent dish for gatherings, parties, or family dinners. The layers of Fritos, savory meat mixture, and gooey melted cheese create a satisfying and delicious meal.

Walking Taco Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 1⁄2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 1⁄3 large Onion, chopped
  • 1 can Green Chilies, small can
  • 1 can Enchilada Sauce
  • 2 ounces Cream Cheese
  • 1 bag Fritos Corn Chips
  • 1 bag Shredded Cheese
  • 3⁄4 cup Lettuce, shredded
  • 1⁄2 cup Tomato, fresh, diced
  • 16 ounces Salsa
  • 8 ounces Sour Cream

How To Make Walking Taco Casserole:

Step 1: Sautéing the Beef

  1. Brown ground beef with chopped onion until fully cooked.

Step 2: Creating the Meat Mixture

  1. Add green chilies, enchilada sauce, and cream cheese to the cooked beef. Mix until the cream cheese is fully melted and the ingredients are well combined.

Step 3: Layering in the Casserole Dish

  1. In a 9×13 pan, create layers as follows:
  • Fritos chips
  • Meat Mixture
  • Shredded Cheese

Step 4: Baking the Casserole

  1. Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Step 5: Serving

  1. Top individual servings with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, salsa, and sour cream according to personal preference.

Tips:

  • Customize the toppings to suit your taste preferences. Additional toppings like guacamole, jalapeños, or cilantro can add extra flavor.
  • Use a blend of shredded cheeses for a richer taste.
  • Ensure the Fritos remain crisp by adding them just before serving or using them as a crunchy topping.
  • Consider setting up a taco bar with various toppings, allowing everyone to customize their portion.

Walking Taco Casserole offers the convenience of a casserole while capturing the essence of a taco feast. Enjoy the layers of textures and flavors in this delightful dish!
