Toll House® Famous Fudge is a classic treat that brings together the rich flavors of chocolate, marshmallows, and nuts (optional) in a delectable, melt-in-your-mouth texture. The famous recipe is known for its simplicity and delicious results, making it a favorite for chocolate lovers.

Enjoy this timeless fudge as a delightful homemade treat or as a thoughtful gift for friends and family.

Toll House® Famous Fudge

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup (5 fl.-oz. can) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 1 1/2 cups (9 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make:

  1. Prepare the Pan:
  • Line an 8-inch-square baking pan with foil.
  1. Combine and Boil:
  • In a medium, heavy-duty saucepan, combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt.
  • Bring the mixture to a full rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • Boil, stirring constantly, for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat.
  1. Add Ingredients:
  • Stir in marshmallows, chocolate morsels, nuts (if using), and vanilla extract.
  • Stir vigorously for 1 minute or until marshmallows are melted.
  1. Set and Refrigerate:
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan.
  • Refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm.
  • Lift from the pan and remove the foil.
  1. Cut into Pieces:
  • Cut the fudge into 48 pieces.

Tips:

  1. Boiling Time: Ensure the mixture reaches a full rolling boil and maintain it for 4 to 5 minutes. This step is crucial for achieving the desired fudge consistency.
  2. Vigorous Stirring: When adding marshmallows and chocolate morsels, stir vigorously for at least 1 minute. This helps in melting the marshmallows and creating a smooth texture.
  3. Nut Options: Customize the fudge by adding chopped pecans or walnuts for a delightful crunch. Alternatively, leave them out for a nut-free version.
  4. Variations:
  • Milk Chocolate Fudge: Use NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Milk Chocolate Morsels instead of Semi-Sweet Morsels.
  • Butterscotch Fudge: Substitute NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Butterscotch Flavored Morsels for Semi-Sweet Morsels.
  • Peanutty Chocolate Fudge: Use NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Peanut Butter & Milk Chocolate Morsels and add chopped peanuts instead of pecans or walnuts.
  1. Storage: Keep the fudge refrigerated, especially in warmer climates. It can also be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for short periods.
