Enjoy this simple, all-natural margarita recipe that perfectly balances tangy lime, smooth tequila, and sweet agave nectar. Cheers!

The Best Homemade Margaritas: All-Natural, 3-Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 ½ shots fresh lime juice* (about 2 medium/large, ripe limes)
  • 2 shots water
  • 1 to 2 shots tequila**
  • ½ to 1 shot agave nectar (or to taste)
  • Ice, as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare Lime Juice:
  • Squeeze the juice from about 2 medium/large, ripe limes into a large cup to yield 1 to 1 ½ shots of lime juice.
  1. Mix Ingredients:
  • Add the water, tequila, and agave nectar to the lime juice.
  • Stir the mixture well and taste. Adjust the sweetness or strength by adding more agave nectar or tequila as desired.
  1. Optional Straining:
  • If preferred, strain the mixture to remove any lime pulp. This step is optional and based on personal preference.
  1. Add Ice:
  • Generously add ice to the mixture.
  • Stir well, or shake the mixture by placing another cup over the top and shaking it vigorously.
  1. Serve Immediately:
  • Pour the margarita into a glass and serve immediately.

Notes:

  • *Adjust the lime juice according to your taste. Fresher, ripe limes yield the best flavor.
  • **Choose your preferred tequila. A higher-quality tequila will result in a smoother margarita.
  • This recipe is intended for individuals of legal drinking age, to be enjoyed responsibly.

Tips for the Perfect Margarita:

  • Fresh Ingredients: Always use fresh lime juice for the best flavor. Bottled lime juice doesn’t compare.
  • Balance: The key to a great margarita is finding the perfect balance between the lime juice, tequila, and agave nectar. Start with the lower amounts and adjust to your taste.
  • Chill: Serve your margarita ice-cold. Not only does it taste better, but it also enhances the refreshing quality of the drink.
  • Salt Rim: For an authentic touch, run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip it in coarse salt before pouring your margarita.
  • Experiment: Feel free to experiment with other citrus fruits like lemons or oranges for a different twist on the classic margarita.
