Tennessee Onions is a savory, cheesy dish that’s perfect as a side or even a main course for onion lovers. This recipe features sweet Vidalia onions layered with butter and a trio of cheeses, all seasoned to perfection. Ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 Sweet Vidalia onions
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • 1 cup Italian blend cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, shredded

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish by spraying it with nonstick cooking spray.
  1. Prepare the Onions:
  • Slice the Vidalia onions into ¼-inch thick rounds.
  • Separate the onion slices into individual rings.
  1. Assemble the Dish:
  • Spread the onion rings evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the onions with salt, garlic powder, and oregano for seasoning.
  1. Add Butter:
  • Slice the butter into 8 equal pieces.
  • Distribute the butter slices evenly over the onion rings.
  1. Add the Cheese:
  • Sprinkle the Italian blend cheese and Cheddar cheese evenly over the onions.
  • Finish with a layer of shredded Parmesan cheese on top.
  1. Bake:
  • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and beginning to brown.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
