Tater Tot Casserole Breakfast is a beloved dish that’s perfect for any meal of the day. This hearty and comforting casserole combines savory breakfast sausage, crispy tater tots, gooey cheeses, and flavorful seasonings, all bound together with a creamy egg mixture. It’s easy to make, incredibly satisfying, and sure to please both kids and adults alike. Plus, it’s gluten-free, making it suitable for those with dietary restrictions. Whether you’re serving it for a weekend brunch, a busy weeknight dinner, or a potluck gathering, this tater tot casserole is sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds hot breakfast sausage
  • 1 (30-32 ounces) bag frozen tater tots
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. Cook Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and crumbly. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, frozen tater tots, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Toss until well combined.
  4. Transfer to Baking Pan: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
  5. Prepare Egg Mixture: In another mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well blended.
  6. Pour Egg Mixture: Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and tater tot mixture in the baking pan. Gently stir to ensure that all ingredients are evenly coated.
  7. Bake: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 60 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving. Slice into portions and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Customize the casserole by adding diced onions, bell peppers, or spinach for added flavor and nutrition.
  • Make ahead of time by assembling the casserole the night before, covering it with plastic wrap, and refrigerating overnight. Simply bake it in the morning for a quick and easy breakfast.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the microwave or oven.
