Ingredients:
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 2 (1.25 ounce) packages taco seasoning mix
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ cup water
- Cooking spray
- 18 (6 inch) corn tortillas
- 1 (24 ounce) jar salsa
- 1 cup sliced green onions
- 1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
- 1 ½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 ½ cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
How To Make Taco Lasagna:
- Prepare Meat Mixture: In a large, deep skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat until cooked through. Drain any excess fat. Season the beef with taco seasoning, minced garlic, chili powder, and cayenne pepper. Stir in water and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Layering: Begin by arranging 6 corn tortillas in the prepared baking dish. Spread 1/3 of the salsa over the tortillas. Evenly spread half of the meat mixture on top of the salsa. Sprinkle half of the sliced green onions over the meat. Drop dollops of half of the sour cream randomly over the green onions. Top with half of the shredded Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese. Repeat the layering process once more.
- Final Layers: Top the lasagna with the remaining 6 corn tortillas. Spread the remaining salsa over the tortillas and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
- Bake: Place the assembled lasagna in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove the taco lasagna from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm, garnished with additional green onions or your favorite toppings, such as diced tomatoes, avocado slices, or chopped cilantro.
Tips:
- Customize your Taco Lasagna by adding your favorite toppings such as sliced black olives, diced jalapeños, or chopped bell peppers.
- Make it ahead of time! Assemble the lasagna up to 24 hours in advance, cover tightly with foil, and refrigerate until ready to bake.
- Use a combination of Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese for the perfect balance of flavors and meltability.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat individual servings in the microwave or oven for a quick and delicious meal.
