Indulge in the luscious sweetness of this delightful Strawberry Heaven dessert, where layers of angel food cake, creamy cheesecake filling, and fresh strawberry topping come together to create a heavenly treat. Perfect for summer gatherings or any occasion, this dessert is sure to impress with its vibrant colors and irresistible flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 1 angel food cake
  • 1 (16 ounce) container Cool Whip
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 (3 ounce) package strawberry Jell-O gelatin dessert
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup water

How To Make Strawberry Heaven:

  1. Prepare the Strawberry Topping:
  • In a medium saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of sugar, cornstarch, strawberry Jell-O, lemon juice, and water.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Stir in the sliced strawberries until well combined.
  1. Assemble the Cake Layer:
  • Tear the angel food cake into 1-inch pieces and toss them with 2 cups of Cool Whip.
  • Press the cake mixture into a 9×13 inch pan to form the bottom layer. Using a glass pan allows for the pretty layers to be visible.
  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer:
  • In a mixer bowl, combine the cream cheese, remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
  • Gently fold in the remaining Cool Whip until evenly combined.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake layer in the pan.
  1. Add the Strawberry Topping:
  • Pour the cooled strawberry mixture over the cream cheese layer, spreading it out to cover the cake evenly.
  1. Chill and Serve:
  • Refrigerate the assembled dessert for 2 to 3 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.

Tips:

  • For a time-saving option, you can use a store-bought angel food cake instead of making one from scratch.
  • Ensure that the cream cheese is softened before mixing to achieve a smooth and creamy texture for the filling.
  • Feel free to customize the dessert by using different fruit toppings such as raspberries or blueberries.
  • This dessert can be prepared ahead of time and stored covered in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • To make it even more refreshing, consider serving chilled with a dollop of extra Cool Whip on top. Enjoy the sweet taste of summer with every bite of this decadent Strawberry Heaven dessert!
