Tips and Substitutions:
- Potatoes: Feel free to use your favorite type of potatoes, such as red potatoes or Yukon Gold potatoes. Instant mashed potatoes or pre-made mashed potatoes from the store can also be used for convenience.
- Meat: While ground beef is traditional, you can also use ground lamb for a classic Shepherd’s Pie flavor. Leftover pot roast can also be a delicious alternative.
- Veggies: Experiment with different vegetables according to your preference. Mushrooms can be a tasty addition, and you can use fresh veggies instead of frozen ones if desired.
- Cheese: For extra cheesiness, add shredded sharp cheddar cheese to the top of the mashed potatoes before baking. You can also customize by adding cheese to only a portion of the dish based on preferences.
