This Seafood Boil is a festive and flavorful dish that brings together a variety of seafood, vegetables, and aromatic spices. The combination of lobster, clams, crab, shrimp, and sausage creates a rich and satisfying meal that’s perfect for gatherings or special occasions. The Old Bay seasoning adds a distinctive and zesty flavor to the broth, enhancing the overall experience.

Seafood Boil

Ingredients:

  • 3 lemons (divided use)
  • 1/2 cup Old Bay seasoning (plus more for garnish)
  • 8 cloves garlic (smashed)
  • 1 onion (peeled and cut into 6 pieces)
  • 1 pound small Yukon gold potatoes (halved)
  • 4 ears corn on the cob (cut into 3-4 inch pieces)
  • 3 lobster tails
  • 1 pound clams (scrubbed)
  • 1 pound crab legs (pre-cooked)
  • 1 pound smoked sausage (cut into 1 inch pieces, kielbasa or andouille are preferred)
  • 1 pound shrimp (peeled and deveined, leave tails on)
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

How To Make Seafood Boil:

Step 1: Preparing the Ingredients

  1. Cut 2 lemons into quarters. Slice the remaining lemon into wedges and reserve for garnish.

Step 2: Boiling the Seafood

  1. Fill a large pot with 14-16 cups of water. Add the quartered lemons, Old Bay seasoning, smashed garlic, and onion. Bring to a boil.
  2. Add the potatoes to the pot and cook for 8 minutes.
  3. Add the lobster tails and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Add the clams, crab, and corn; cook for 5 more minutes.
  5. Finally, add the shrimp and sausage, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Step 3: Draining and Preparing the Broth

  1. Drain the seafood mixture from the pot, reserving 1 cup of the flavorful broth.
  2. Melt the butter in a small bowl, whisking it into the reserved broth.

Step 4: Serving and Garnishing

  1. Pour the broth over the seafood mixture.
  2. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon wedges.
  3. Sprinkle additional Old Bay seasoning to taste.
  4. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Customize the seafood choices based on personal preferences and availability.
  • Ensure that all the seafood is cooked to perfection by following the specified cooking times for each ingredient.
  • The broth is a key component, so don’t skip the step of reserving and enhancing it with butter for added richness.

This Seafood Boil is meant to be enjoyed with friends and family, encouraging a communal and hands-on dining experience. Crack open the crab legs, peel the shrimp, and savor the delicious flavors of this delightful seafood feast!
