This ribeye steak recipe guarantees a perfectly cooked and flavorful result. The seasoning process with sea salt and black pepper enhances the natural taste of the high-quality ribeye cut. Cooking it to the desired doneness ensures a juicy and tender steak.

The addition of thyme and garlic-infused butter elevates the flavors, creating a rich and aromatic experience. The resting period after cooking is a crucial step that should not be skipped, as it allows the steak to retain its juices, resulting in a more succulent and delicious outcome.

Perfect Ribeye Steak with Thyme and Garlic Butter

Ingredients:

  • 1 ribeye steak
  • Sea salt flakes
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 50g butter
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  • 1 clove of crushed garlic with its skin

How to Make:

  1. Prepare the Steak:
  • Take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator at least half an hour before cooking to allow it to reach room temperature. This ensures even cooking.
  1. Season the Steak:
  • Generously season the steak with sea salt flakes and freshly ground black pepper on both sides. Ensure an even coverage by pressing the salt and pepper into the steak.
  1. Preheat the Pan:
  • Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. If cooking two steaks, ensure the pan is large enough to accommodate both comfortably. Alternatively, use two pans simultaneously.
  1. Cook the Steak:
  • Add the seasoned steak to the hot skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, depending on the desired thickness and doneness. For a 3cm steak, a total cooking time of around 5 minutes is a good guideline.
  1. Add Thyme and Garlic Butter:
  • After turning the steak for the first time, add butter, thyme sprigs, and crushed garlic to the pan. Stir for about a minute, tilting the pan to collect the butter and pouring it over the steak. This adds extra flavor and richness.
  1. Rest the Steak:
  • Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes. Resting is crucial as it allows the meat fibers to relax and reabsorb their juices, ensuring a juicy and flavorful result when sliced.
  1. Slice and Serve:
  • Cut the rested steak into strips, season with additional salt and pepper if needed, and serve with your choice of side dishes and sauce.

Tips:

  1. Quality Matters: Invest in a high-quality ribeye steak for the best flavor and tenderness.
  2. Room Temperature: Allowing the steak to come to room temperature before cooking ensures even cooking throughout the meat.
  3. Butter Basting: Basting the steak with thyme and garlic-infused butter adds layers of flavor. Ensure the butter is hot but not burnt.
  4. Resting Time: Patience is key. Letting the steak rest after cooking allows the juices to redistribute, enhancing the overall taste and tenderness.
