Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Earthquake Cake is a decadent and rich dessert that combines the irresistible flavors of chocolate fudge cake, peanut butter cream, and Reese’s peanut butter cups. The result is a delightful and gooey treat with a marbled appearance, creating a visual “earthquake” effect. Perfect for indulging your sweet tooth or impressing guests with a delightful dessert.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Earthquake Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 Box Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix (oil, eggs, water)
  • 8oz softened cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup Creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 Cup miniature Reese’s peanut butter cups, unwrapped and cut in halves.

How To Make Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Earthquake Cake:

Step 1: Preparing the Chocolate Fudge Cake

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9 x 13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ingredients for the dark chocolate fudge cake according to the package instructions.
  3. Pour the chocolate fudge cake batter into the greased baking dish and set it aside.

Step 2: Creating the Peanut Butter Cream Mixture

  1. In a separate bowl, combine softened cream cheese, softened butter, peanut butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition until the mixture is smooth.

Step 3: Assembling the Cake

  1. Spoon the peanut butter cream mixture over the chocolate cake batter in the baking dish, creating a marbled effect.
  2. Sprinkle the halved Reese’s peanut butter cups and chocolate chips on top.

Step 4: Baking and Serving

  1. Bake for about 45-50 minutes, checking the center with a toothpick after 45 minutes for doneness.
  2. Once done, serve the Earthquake Cake warm. For an extra indulgence, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Tips:

  • Experiment with different cake mix flavors for variations in taste.
  • Ensure the cream cheese and butter are thoroughly softened for a smooth peanut butter cream mixture.
  • Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving to let the flavors meld together.
  • Customize by adding chopped nuts or drizzling caramel sauce on top.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for freshness.
