Potato Accordion is a delightful and visually appealing dish that offers a unique twist to traditional baked potatoes. With its accordion-style cuts and flavorful seasoning, it’s sure to be a hit at any dinner table. This recipe combines the creamy texture of baked potatoes with the savory taste of garlic-infused butter, resulting in a dish that’s both comforting and flavorful.

Ingredients:

  • ½ stick of butter
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 whole potatoes

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the butter, minced garlic, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix well to ensure the garlic is evenly distributed throughout the butter.
  3. Slice Potatoes: Using a sharp knife, slice each potato crosswise, leaving about 1/2 inch at the bottom still attached. To prevent slicing all the way through, you can place pencils or chopsticks on each side of the potato as a guide.
  4. Season Potatoes: Carefully smear the prepared butter mixture onto each potato, making sure to work it between the slices and coat all sides of the potatoes evenly.
  5. Bake: Place the seasoned potatoes on a nonstick baking sheet or a baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes or until the potatoes are golden brown and tender.
  6. Serve: Once baked, remove the potatoes from the oven and serve them hot. You can garnish with additional chopped herbs like parsley or chives for added flavor and presentation.

Tips:

  • Choose potatoes that are relatively uniform in size and shape for even cooking.
  • Be careful not to slice all the way through the potatoes when making the cuts to maintain the accordion effect.
  • Adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences. You can add additional herbs or spices to the butter mixture for extra flavor.
  • Serve the Potato Accordion as a side dish alongside your favorite main course, or enjoy it as a standalone snack or appetizer.

Enjoy the deliciously crispy exterior and creamy interior of these perfectly seasoned Potato Accordions!
