Ooey Gooey Butter Cake is a decadent dessert that’s rich, moist, and absolutely irresistible. This recipe takes a simple yellow cake mix and transforms it into a luscious treat that’s perfect for any occasion. With a buttery bottom layer topped with a creamy, sweet topping, this cake is sure to become a favorite among family and friends.

Ingredients:

  • Yellow cake mix: Provides the base for the cake layer.
  • Eggs: Help bind the ingredients together and add moisture.
  • Butter: Adds richness and flavor to both the cake layer and the topping.
  • Vanilla extract: Enhances the flavor of the cake.

Topping for cake:

  • Cream cheese: Gives the topping its creamy texture and tangy flavor.
  • Powdered sugar: Sweetens the topping and helps it set.
  • Additional egg and vanilla extract: Contribute to the richness and flavor of the topping.

Instructions:

  1. Mix together the cake mix, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract to form the bottom layer of the cake batter.
  2. Press the cake mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch cake pan to create the bottom layer.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, egg, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  4. Spread the topping mixture over the bottom cake layer in the pan.
  5. Bake the cake in a preheated 350°F oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.
  6. Allow the cake to cool before cutting it into squares to serve.

Tips:

  1. Be sure to use softened cream cheese for the topping to ensure a smooth and creamy texture.
  2. Press the cake mixture evenly into the pan to ensure even baking and a uniform bottom layer.
  3. Avoid overmixing the topping to prevent it from becoming too thin; mix just until smooth and well combined.
  4. Allow the cake to cool completely before cutting into squares to ensure clean slices.
  5. Serve the cake at room temperature or slightly warmed for the best flavor and texture. Enjoy this indulgent dessert with a cup of coffee or tea for a delightful treat.
