Mixed Berry Crisp is a delightful dessert that perfectly balances the tartness of fresh or frozen berries with a sweet, crunchy topping. Bursting with vibrant flavors and textures, this easy-to-make treat is ideal for family dinners, potlucks, or summer gatherings. Pair it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a comforting and indulgent finish.

Ingredients

Berry Filling:

  • 6 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen; do not thaw if frozen)
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

Crisp Topping:

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup oats
  • ½ cup coconut flakes
  • ¼ cup salted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Dish:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish.
  2. Make the Berry Filling:
In the baking dish, combine the mixed berries with flour, lemon zest, and sugar. Toss gently to coat the berries evenly.
  3. Mix the Topping:
In a medium bowl, stir together the brown sugar, oats, coconut flakes, butter, flour, pecans (if using), and cinnamon. Mix until the ingredients are well incorporated and crumbly.
  4. Assemble and Bake:
Evenly sprinkle the topping mixture over the berry filling. Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the berries are hot and bubbling and the topping is golden brown.
  5. Cool and Serve:
Let the crisp cool for at least 10 minutes to allow the juices to thicken. Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Tips for the Best Mixed Berry Crisp

  • Berry Choices:
Use a mix of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries for a vibrant flavor. Adjust the sugar depending on the sweetness of your berries.
  • Frozen Berry Tip:
If using frozen berries, do not thaw them; this prevents excess liquid from making the crisp too runny.
  • Customize the Topping:
Add shredded coconut, chopped nuts, or even chocolate chips to the topping for unique variations.
  • Make Ahead:
Assemble the crisp and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking. Add 5–10 minutes to the bake time if baking straight from the fridge.

This Mixed Berry Crisp is a versatile and crowd-pleasing dessert that comes together with minimal effort but delivers maximum flavor!
