This Creamy Chicken Bake is a perfect go-to dinner option when you’re craving something rich, comforting, and simple to prepare. The combination of tender chicken breasts baked in a creamy sauce made with two types of condensed soups, sour cream, and mushrooms creates an incredibly flavorful dish. With minimal prep and just a handful of pantry staples, this recipe is ideal for busy weeknights or weekend meals alike.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large chicken breasts
  • 1 can (10 ¾ oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10 ¾ oz.) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (8 oz.) mushrooms (stems and pieces), drained
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chopped chives
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray to prevent the chicken from sticking.
  1. Prepare the Chicken:
  • Arrange the chicken breasts in the prepared baking pan in a single layer. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.
  1. Make the Creamy Sauce:
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, drained mushrooms, water, onion powder, and chopped chives until well combined.
  1. Assemble the Dish:
  • Spoon the creamy mixture evenly over the chicken breasts, ensuring that each piece is well-coated. Sprinkle paprika on top for added flavor and color.
  1. Bake:
  • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour or until the chicken breasts reach an internal temperature of 165°F and the sauce is lightly browned and bubbly.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove the dish from the oven and allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving. Pair with your favorite side dishes like mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables to soak up the creamy sauce.

Tips:

  • Check the Chicken: Use a meat thermometer to ensure your chicken reaches 165°F at the thickest part for safe consumption.
  • Mushroom Variety: If you want to elevate the flavor, swap the canned mushrooms for sautéed fresh mushrooms like baby bellas or creminis.
  • Make it a Meal: Add some vegetables like green beans or broccoli to the dish during the last 20 minutes of cooking for a complete one-pan meal.
  • Flavor Boost: For an extra layer of flavor, you can mix in a teaspoon of garlic powder or a splash of white wine into the creamy sauce.

This Creamy Chicken Bake is indulgent and versatile, making it a hit for family dinners or meal prep. The chicken stays moist and tender, while the rich sauce adds depth and richness to every bite!
