This classic favorite features a crispy, chewy crust topped with rich pizza sauce, gooey mozzarella, and a mix of hearty toppings including pepperoni, sausage, vegetables, and mushrooms. Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar (or 1 tbsp honey)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 4 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3-4 cups all-purpose flour

For the Toppings:

  • ½ cup pizza sauce (or as desired)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 4 oz ground pork sausage or ground beef, cooked
  • 2 oz pepperoni, chopped
  • 1 oz salami, sliced (or other deli meat)
  • ¼ cup diced green bell pepper
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives
  • 3 tbsp thinly sliced red onion
  • 2 large mushrooms, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
  • Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).
  • In a small bowl, combine yeast, sugar, and warm water. Cover and let sit for 5-10 minutes, or until bubbles appear on the surface.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix the yeast mixture, 2 tbsp olive oil, and salt. Gradually add 3 cups of flour, mixing well after each addition. If dough is sticky, add more flour a tablespoon at a time until it’s manageable.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until it becomes slightly stiff, about 6 minutes.
  1. Rise the Dough:
  • (Optional) If you have time, let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour for a lighter, chewier crust. Punch down the dough after rising.
  1. Prepare the Pizza Crust:
  • Lightly grease two pizza pans. Roll and stretch the dough to fill each pan, pressing with your fingers to reach the edges as needed.
  • Let the dough rise in the pans for 10 minutes, then poke the dough all over with a fork to prevent bubbles.
  1. Assemble the Pizza:
  • Brush the dough with the remaining 2 tbsp of olive oil. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the crust and add mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  • Top with cooked sausage, pepperoni, salami, bell pepper, olives, red onion, and mushrooms.
  1. Bake:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.
  • Slice and serve hot, enjoying each cheesy, savory bite!
