These Homemade Brownies are rich, decadent, and bursting with chocolatey goodness. With a dense and fudgy texture, a hint of espresso to enhance the chocolate flavor, and melty chocolate chips in every bite, they’re the ultimate treat for chocolate lovers. Perfect for satisfying sweet cravings or impressing guests, these brownies are as easy to make as they are delicious!

Ingredients

  • Wet Ingredients:
    • ½ cup butter, melted
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 1 ⅓ cups granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs, room temperature
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Dry Ingredients:
    • ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon espresso powder (or instant coffee)
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • Mix-Ins:
    • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus more for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep the Pan:
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9×9-inch pan with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray to ensure easy removal.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:
In a large bowl, stir together melted butter, vegetable oil, sugar, and cocoa powder until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  3. Add Eggs and Flavorings:
Whisk in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, espresso powder, and salt. Mix until fully combined.
  4. Incorporate Dry Ingredients:
Gradually fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined. The batter should be thick. Gently stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips.
  5. Prepare for Baking:
Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top for a gooey finish if desired.
  6. Bake:
Bake for 21-25 minutes or until the edges are glossy and a toothpick inserted 1 inch from the edge comes out clean (the center may still appear slightly gooey, which is ideal for fudgy brownies).
  7. Cool and Serve:
Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Serve and enjoy!

Tips for Perfect Brownies

  1. Room Temperature Eggs: Room temperature eggs blend more easily into the batter, resulting in a smoother texture.
  2. Don’t Overbake: To achieve fudgy brownies, remove them from the oven when the edges are set, but the center is still slightly soft. They’ll firm up as they cool.
  3. Espresso Powder: The espresso powder enhances the chocolate flavor without adding a coffee taste. You can omit it if you prefer.
  4. Mix Gently: Overmixing the batter after adding the flour can lead to dense brownies. Stir just until combined.
  5. Customize Mix-Ins: Swap out chocolate chips for white chocolate, nuts, or even peanut butter chips for variety.
