These Ham and Cheese Sliders are a perfect blend of savory ham, creamy Swiss cheese, and a tangy butter mixture, all encased in sweet Hawaiian rolls. They make a fantastic appetizer or a quick meal that’s sure to please a crowd.

Ham and Cheese Sliders Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 package (12-count) Hawaiian sweet rolls, sliced in half horizontally
  • ¾ pound thinly sliced cooked deli ham
  • ¾ pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a 9×9-inch or 9×13-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray; set aside.
  1. Slice the Rolls:
  • Using a large serrated knife, slice the entire package of rolls in half horizontally, keeping the rolls connected. This creates a top “slab” and a bottom “slab.”
  1. Layer the Ingredients:
  • Place the bottom “slab” of rolls into the prepared pan.
  • Evenly layer about half of the ham over the bottom “slab.”
  • Follow with an even layer of Swiss cheese.
  • Layer the remaining ham over the cheese.
  • Place the top “slab” of rolls over the layers of ham and cheese.
  1. Prepare the Butter Mixture:
  • In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter by heating it on high for about 1 minute.
  • Add the Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, dried minced onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the melted butter. Whisk until well combined.
  1. Add the Butter Mixture:
  • Slowly and evenly pour the butter mixture over the top “slab” of rolls, using a spatula to spread the mixture evenly. Some of the mixture will pool at the base of the rolls.
  1. Let Stand:
  • Cover the pan with aluminum foil and let the rolls stand at room temperature for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  1. Bake:
  • Bake the covered sliders in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
  • Uncover the pan and bake for an additional 3 to 5 minutes, or until the tops are as done as you desire. Be careful not to let them burn, as baking times can vary.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove from the oven and slice into individual sliders.
  • Serve immediately while warm and fresh.

Description and Tips

Tips for Best Results:

  • Keep Rolls Intact: Slicing the rolls as a single “slab” helps keep them sturdy and easier to handle when layering ingredients.
  • Even Layering: Ensure even layers of ham and cheese to maintain a consistent texture and flavor throughout each slider.
  • Butter Mixture: Pour the butter mixture slowly and use a spatula to ensure even coverage. This helps infuse the flavors throughout the rolls.
  • Watch Closely: Oven temperatures can vary, so keep an eye on the sliders during the final minutes of baking to prevent over-browning.
  • Serve Fresh: These sliders are best enjoyed warm and fresh out of the oven. If making ahead, reheat them gently to preserve their gooey texture and flavor.

Enjoy these delicious, easy-to-make sliders at your next gathering or for a delightful snack at home!
