Fried Potatoes and Onion is a simple yet satisfying dish that brings out the natural flavors of Yukon Gold potatoes and onions. The combination of butter, olive oil, and seasonings enhances the taste, making it a delicious side dish or even a standalone snack.

Fried Potatoes and Onion

Ingredients:

  • 4 large Yukon Gold type potatoes
  • 1 large onion, finely cut into rings
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pinch of dill (or herb of your choice)
  • 1 pinch of salt and pepper

How to Make:

  1. Start by peeling the Yukon Gold potatoes and cut them into thin slices.
  2. Similarly, cut the onion into rings.
  3. In a large frying pan over medium heat, melt the butter and add the olive oil.
  4. Place the potato rings and onion rings in the pan.

Tips:

  1. Uniform Slicing: Ensure that you slice the potatoes and onions uniformly to ensure even cooking. This helps achieve a consistent texture and flavor in every bite.
  2. Adjusting Seasonings: Feel free to adjust the quantities of garlic powder, dill, salt, and pepper according to your taste preferences. You can also experiment with other herbs or spices for added variety.
  3. Crispy Texture: For a crispier texture, allow the potatoes to brown slightly on the edges. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and promote even cooking.
  4. Customization: Consider adding other ingredients like bell peppers or mushrooms for additional flavors and textures. You can also sprinkle some grated cheese on top for a cheesy twist.
  5. Serve Hot: Fried potatoes and onion are best enjoyed hot off the pan. Serve them as a side dish with your favorite main course or enjoy them on their own.
  6. Experimentation: Don’t hesitate to experiment with the cooking process. You can try pan-frying or roasting for variations in texture and taste.
