This Easy Peach Cobbler is a delightful dessert that’s perfect for any occasion. With a buttery crust and juicy peaches, it’s sure to be a hit. The best part? It’s incredibly simple to make, requiring just a few ingredients and minimal prep time. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate comfort dessert.

Ingredients

For the Cobbler:

  • 1 cup self-rising flour (see Note for substitution)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup butter, divided and melted separately
  • 1 (29-ounce) can sliced peaches in heavy syrup, undrained

Optional:

  • Dash of cinnamon (for added flavor)

Equipment:

  • 1 9×9 baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  1. Prepare the Flour Mixture:
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, coarsely mix the self-rising flour, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/4 cup of melted butter together. If desired, add a dash of cinnamon for extra flavor.
  1. Layer the Ingredients:
  • Sprinkle about one-third of the flour mixture evenly on the bottom of a 9×9 baking dish. This layer will help thicken the syrup from the peaches as it bakes.
  • Pour the canned peaches along with their juice over the flour mixture in the baking dish. If you prefer a drier cobbler, you can reduce the amount of liquid added.
  • Sprinkle the remaining sugar/flour mixture evenly over the top of the peaches.
  1. Add the Topping:
  • Sprinkle the top with the additional 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar.
  • Drizzle the remaining 1/4 cup of melted butter over the top. The mixture may look wet, but the flour will absorb the liquid during baking.
  1. Bake the Cobbler:
  • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Allow the cobbler to sit for at least 5 minutes before serving to let it set.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve the cobbler warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious treat.

Notes

  • Self-Rising Flour Substitute: If you don’t have self-rising flour, you can make your own by mixing 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  • Doubling the Recipe: This recipe can easily be doubled to serve more people. Simply use a 9×13 baking dish and adjust the baking time as needed.
  • Cinnamon: Adding a dash of cinnamon to the flour mixture adds a lovely warmth to the cobbler.

Enjoy this simple and delicious Peach Cobbler, a classic dessert that’s perfect for any time of the year!
