Easy Molasses Buns

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 cups flour

How To Make Easy Molasses Buns:

Step 1: Prepare the Wet Ingredients

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine milk, egg, molasses, cinnamon, and baking soda.
  2. Stir the ingredients well to ensure they are thoroughly mixed.
  3. Add sugar and butter to the mixture.

Step 2: Warm the Mixture

  1. Mix well, then warm the mixture in the microwave for about 40 seconds. This helps to incorporate the flavors and soften the butter.

Step 3: Incorporate Flour and Form Balls

  1. Add flour to the mixture and mix thoroughly until a dough forms.
  2. Form the dough into balls and place them in rows in a greased baking dish.

Step 4: Bake the Buns

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Bake the buns for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Optional Variation:

  • For Molasses Raisin Buns, add 1 cup of raisins to the dough before forming the balls.

Additional Tips:

  • Ensure that all the wet ingredients are well combined to distribute the flavors evenly throughout the buns.
  • Adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of sugar according to your taste preferences.
  • Experiment with different shapes or sizes when forming the dough balls for a personalized touch.
  • If using muffin pans, adjust the baking time accordingly, checking for doneness with a toothpick.

Tips:
These molasses buns can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature. Consider serving them with butter, jam, or honey for an extra layer of indulgence. Whether you’re a seasoned baker or a beginner, this recipe is sure to become a go-to for a delicious and comforting treat.
