This Crockpot Orange Chicken recipe offers a convenient and flavorful way to enjoy the classic Chinese takeout favorite at home. With just four simple ingredients and minimal prep time, this dish is perfect for busy weeknights or lazy weekends. The combination of sweet orange marmalade, savory BBQ sauce, and soy sauce creates a deliciously tangy and slightly sticky sauce that coats tender chicken breasts. Serve it over rice for a complete and satisfying meal that the whole family will love.

Ingredients:

  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts: Provide a lean protein base for the dish.
  • Orange Marmalade: Adds a sweet and citrusy flavor to the sauce, giving the dish its signature orange taste.
  • BBQ Sauce: Contributes a rich and smoky flavor to the sauce, complementing the sweetness of the marmalade.
  • Soy Sauce: Provides depth of flavor and a salty umami taste to balance out the sweetness of the sauce.

How To Make Easy Crockpot Orange Chicken:

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then place them in the crockpot.
  2. Cook the chicken on high for 3 hours or on low for 6 hours until tender and cooked through.
  3. Drain any excess juices from the crockpot.
  4. Optionally, you can either leave the chicken breasts whole or cut them into cubes and return them to the crockpot.
  5. In a bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, orange marmalade, and soy sauce.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the crockpot.
  7. Continue to cook on high for an additional 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken.
  8. Serve the Crockpot Orange Chicken over rice for a complete meal.

Tips:

  • For added flavor, consider adding minced garlic, grated ginger, or red pepper flakes to the sauce mixture.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can mix a tablespoon of cornstarch with a tablespoon of water and add it to the sauce during the last 30 minutes of cooking to help thicken it.
  • Feel free to customize the recipe by using different flavors of BBQ sauce or adding additional ingredients like sliced bell peppers, onions, or pineapple chunks for added texture and flavor.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop before serving.
