Easy Big Fat Yeast Rolls are a simple yet delicious addition to any meal. These rolls are soft, fluffy, and perfect for serving alongside soups, stews, or as dinner rolls.

Easy Big Fat Yeast Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons soft butter
  • 1 large egg, scrambled
  • 3 1/2 – 4 cups all-purpose flour

How To Make Easy Big Fat Yeast Rolls:

  1. Preheat Oven:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  1. Prepare Yeast Mixture:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Add sugar, salt, soft butter, and the scrambled egg.
  • Beat the ingredients with a dough hook until well blended.
  1. Add Flour:
  • Gradually add 3 1/2 to 4 cups of all-purpose flour to the mixture.
  • Mix until a soft dough forms, ensuring that the dough is not too sticky.
  1. Knead the Dough:
  • Place the dough on a floured board and knead several times until it becomes smooth.
  1. Let Dough Rise:
  • Transfer the kneaded dough to a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes.
  1. Punch Down and Shape:
  • Punch down the risen dough and turn it onto a floured board.
  • Shape the dough into 12 rolls and place them on a greased 13×9 baking tray.
  1. Second Rise:
  • Allow the shaped rolls to rise again for an additional 30 minutes.
  1. Bake:
  • Bake the rolls in the preheated oven at 350 degrees for approximately 20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  1. Butter the Rolls:
  • After baking, grease the surfaces of the rolls with butter or an equivalent.

Tips:

  • Ensure that the water used for activating the yeast is warm but not too hot. The ideal temperature is around 110-115 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • When adding flour to the dough, do so gradually until you achieve the right consistency. The dough should be soft and elastic but not overly sticky.
  • Kneading the dough helps develop gluten and gives the rolls a nice texture. Knead until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky.
  • Allowing the dough to rise in a warm place is crucial for yeast activation. Ensure it doubles in size during the rising process.
  • When shaping the rolls, consistency in size ensures even baking. You can use a kitchen scale for precise measurements.
  • The second rise gives the rolls a chance to become airy and light, contributing to their fluffy texture.
  • Brushing the rolls with butter after baking adds a delightful flavor and sheen.

These Easy Big Fat Yeast Rolls are a versatile addition to your recipe collection, perfect for any occasion. Enjoy them fresh out of the oven with your favorite spreads or as a side to complement various dishes.
