Indulge in the ultimate summer salad experience with this Dorito Taco Salad recipe. Loaded with savory ground beef, crunchy Nacho Cheese Doritos, fresh vegetables, and a flavorful blend of dressings, this salad is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser at any potluck or party. Originally a family recipe passed down from the creator’s mom, its deliciousness is time-tested and guaranteed to be a hit wherever it’s served.

Dorito Taco Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1 large bag Dorito Nacho Cheese Chips, broken into smaller pieces
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 head lettuce, shredded
  • 6 tomatoes, chopped
  • ½ cup Italian dressing
  • 2 cups ranch dressing

Instructions:

  1. In a skillet, brown the lean ground beef until crumbled. Drain excess fat from the pan after cooking.
  2. Add the taco seasoning mix to the cooked beef. Pour in both the Italian and Ranch dressings, stirring to combine. Simmer until the liquid is absorbed into the meat.
  3. Place shredded lettuce in a bowl, chopped tomatoes in another, and diced onion in a third bowl. Place shredded cheddar cheese in a separate large bowl.
  4. Instead of combining all ingredients immediately, keep them separate to allow guests to customize their salads according to their preferences. This also helps in storing any leftover ingredients separately in the refrigerator.

Tips:

  • Customization: Feel free to customize this salad with additional toppings like black beans, corn, avocado, or jalapeños for an extra flavor kick.
  • Make Ahead: Prepare the ground beef and dressing mixture ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator. Assemble the salad just before serving to maintain the crispness of the Doritos.
  • Storage: Store any leftover salad components separately to prevent the Doritos from getting soggy. Assemble individual servings as needed to maintain freshness.
  • Variation: Experiment with different flavors of Doritos or try using Cool Ranch Doritos for a unique twist on this classic recipe.
  • Presentation: Serve the salad in a large bowl or arrange individual servings on plates for a visually appealing presentation. Don’t forget to garnish with extra Doritos for an added crunch. Enjoy!
