A Dirty Chai Latte brings together the rich, smooth taste of espresso and the spiced warmth of chai, creating a bold, aromatic drink that’s perfect for any time of day. This versatile recipe allows you to enjoy it hot or iced, making it a cozy winter treat or a refreshing summer drink.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz espresso (about 2 shots)
  • ½ cup chai concentrate
  • ½ cup milk of choice (whole milk is recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla syrup
  • Pinch of chai spice (optional)

Instructions

For a Hot Dirty Chai Latte:

  1. Warm the Chai Base: Pour chai concentrate into a large coffee mug and heat it in the microwave for about 30 seconds, until warm. Stir in freshly brewed espresso and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Milk: Combine milk and vanilla syrup in a microwave-safe jar or measuring cup, stirring to blend. Heat in the microwave until steaming (about 200°F/93°C), but avoid boiling. Froth the warm milk with a milk frother or whisk.
  3. Assemble the Latte: Pour the frothed milk over the chai-espresso mixture in your mug and top with a pinch of chai spice for extra flavor.

For an Iced Dirty Chai Latte:

  1. Prepare the Espresso and Pour Over Ice: Brew espresso and pour it into a tall glass filled with ice.
  2. Mix in Remaining Ingredients: Stir in the chai concentrate, milk, and vanilla syrup.
  3. Top and Enjoy: Sprinkle with chai spice if desired, then stir and enjoy your refreshing iced latte.

Tips for the Perfect Dirty Chai Latte

  • Custom Chai Concentrate: Use store-bought or homemade chai concentrate, adjusting the sweetness and spice level to your preference.
  • Frothing Options: If you don’t have a frother, you can shake warm milk in a sealed jar for frothy results.
  • Dairy-Free Alternative: Almond, oat, or coconut milk work beautifully for a dairy-free latte.
  • Extra Spices: A pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or even cardamom can enhance the chai flavor.

The Dirty Chai Latte combines the robust richness of coffee with spiced chai tea’s aromatic warmth, creating a delightful fusion for both coffee and tea lovers alike!
