Crazy Crust Pie is a simple and versatile dessert that combines a delicious crust with your favorite fruit pie filling. The craziness of this recipe comes from the unique way the crust and filling interact during baking, resulting in a delightful treat with minimal effort.

Crazy Crust Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 can fruit pie filling (21 oz.) – (apple, cherry, peach, blueberry, blackberry, etc.)
  • Sugar (or cinnamon-sugar) for sprinkling

How To Make Crazy Crust Pie:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, softened butter or margarine, milk, and egg. Beat the ingredients well until a smooth batter is formed.
  3. Pour the batter into a well-greased 9-inch pie plate.
  4. Spoon the fruit pie filling into the center of the batter, leaving about 1 inch of space from the edge. If using apple or peach filling, you can sprinkle it with sugar or cinnamon-sugar for added flavor.
  5. Do not stir the pie filling into the batter; let it sit on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the crust is browned, and the dough is fully cooked.
  7. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy this easy and delicious Crazy Crust Pie!

Tips:

  • Ensure that the pie plate is well-greased to prevent sticking and make it easier to slice and serve the pie.
  • Experiment with different fruit pie fillings such as apple, cherry, peach, blueberry, or blackberry to suit your taste preferences or seasonal availability.
  • If using apple or peach filling, the optional sprinkle of sugar or cinnamon-sugar adds a sweet and aromatic touch to the dessert.
  • Be cautious not to stir the pie filling into the batter; allowing it to rest on top creates a distinctive layered effect during baking.
  • Check for doneness by ensuring that the crust is browned, and the dough underneath is fully cooked. Adjust the baking time if needed.
  • Serve the Crazy Crust Pie warm for a comforting and delightful experience.
  • Consider adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream when serving for an extra treat.

This Crazy Crust Pie is a quick and easy dessert solution that delivers fantastic results. It’s perfect for when you’re craving a homemade pie without the fuss of making a traditional crust. Enjoy the delightful combination of flavors and textures in every bite!
