The Classic Caesar is a Canadian favorite and the perfect brunch or afternoon cocktail. This savory, spiced drink balances the flavors of Clamato juice, vodka, and a touch of horseradish, Worcestershire, and hot sauce for a rich depth that’s both refreshing and tangy. Finished with a celery-salt rim and garnishes like celery and pickled asparagus, this cocktail brings a delightful complexity and a bit of spice with every sip.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • ¾ cup Clamato juice
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 dash Tabasco (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon horseradish (optional, for extra zing)
  • 1 stalk celery, for garnish
  • 1 pickled asparagus (optional, for garnish)
  • Celery salt, for rimming the glass (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass
  • Rub the edge of a tall glass with a lime wedge, then dip it into celery salt to coat the rim. Set aside.
  1. Shake the Cocktail
  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Add vodka, Clamato juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, and horseradish if desired. Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds to blend flavors well.
  1. Assemble and Serve
  • Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice and strain the cocktail mixture into the glass. Garnish with a celery stalk and pickled asparagus for a classic finish.

Tips for a Perfect Caesar Cocktail

  • Customize the Spice: Adjust the amount of Tabasco and horseradish to match your heat preference. Add a little more Worcestershire for extra depth.
  • Rim Creativity: Try a mix of celery salt and smoked salt for a unique rim flavor, or add a sprinkle of black pepper.
  • Garnish Variety: While celery is traditional, consider pickled beans, olives, or even a mini pepperoni stick to add personality to your Caesar!

Whether you’re enjoying it with brunch or as an afternoon refresher, this Caesar recipe offers a deliciously bold twist on a classic cocktail.
