This 7-Layer Dip is a crowd-pleaser, perfect for parties or game days. With its delicious layers of refried beans, creamy taco-seasoned layers, guacamole, salsa, cheese, and toppings, it’s packed with bold Mexican-inspired flavors in each bite. Easy to assemble and even easier to enjoy, this dip is guaranteed to disappear quickly!

Ingredients

  • Layered Ingredients
  • 1¼ cups salsa, drained
  • 16 ounces canned refried beans
  • 2 tablespoons milk (or liquid from drained salsa)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 ounce taco seasoning (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup black olives or diced tomatoes
  • 4 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients
  • Place the salsa in a sieve or fine-mesh strainer to drain any excess liquid. This helps prevent the dip from becoming runny.
  1. Assemble the Layers
  • Bean Layer: In a medium bowl, mix refried beans with 2 tablespoons of milk or the reserved salsa liquid until smooth. Spread evenly across the bottom of a 9×13 pan.
  • Creamy Layer: In another bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning. Mix until smooth and well combined. Spread this mixture over the bean layer.
  • Guacamole and Salsa Layers: Gently spread the guacamole over the cream cheese mixture, followed by an even layer of the drained salsa.
  1. Finish with Toppings
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the salsa. Add black olives or diced tomatoes on top, followed by sliced green onions for color and flavor.
  1. Chill and Serve
  • Refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour to allow the layers to set. Serve with tortilla chips or crackers.

Tips and Serving Suggestions

  • Draining the Salsa: Ensures the dip doesn’t become watery as it sits, keeping each layer distinct and flavorful.
  • Make-Ahead Option: Prepare this dip a few hours in advance for the flavors to meld together perfectly.
  • Serving Ideas: Pair with sturdy tortilla chips, veggie sticks, or even pita bread for dipping.
  • Additional Garnishes: Add chopped cilantro, diced bell peppers, or a sprinkle of jalapeño slices for a bit of spice.

This classic 7-layer dip is endlessly customizable, so feel free to add more of your favorite ingredients or adjust the spice level to taste. It’s the ultimate appetizer that guarantees flavor-packed bites every time.
