This Chocolate Spider Trifle is a fun, creepy, and delicious dessert perfect for Halloween parties. It layers rich chocolate cake, smooth chocolate pudding, and crunchy Oreos, topped with a spider web design made from Hershey’s syrup. It’s a treat that looks eerie but tastes heavenly. Best of all, it’s easy to assemble and will be a hit with both kids and adults alike!

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients listed on the box
  • 6.6 oz instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 large container Cool Whip (16 oz)
  • 1 package Oreos, crushed
  • Hershey’s syrup, for decorating
  • 1 plastic spider, for a spooky touch

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chocolate Cake:

  • Make the chocolate cake according to the instructions on the box. Once baked, allow it to cool completely, then cut it into small cubes.

2. Make the Chocolate Pudding:

  • In a bowl, whisk together the pudding mix and milk until smooth. Fold in half of the Cool Whip to create a light, fluffy pudding cream mixture. Set aside.

3. Assemble the Trifle Layers:

  • In a trifle dish or a large glass bowl, start by adding half of the chocolate cake cubes to the bottom.
  • Sprinkle half of the crushed Oreos on top of the cake cubes.
  • Spread half of the pudding cream mixture over the Oreos.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining cake cubes, Oreos, and pudding cream.

4. Add the Finishing Touch:

  • Spread the remaining Cool Whip over the final pudding layer, smoothing it out evenly.
  • Drizzle Hershey’s syrup starting from the center and creating concentric circles, working your way out to the edges.
  • To create a spider web design, use a toothpick to draw lines from the center of the circles outward, forming the web.
  • Add the plastic spider on top to complete the spooky look.

5. Chill and Serve:

  • Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours to allow the layers to set and the flavors to meld together. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Tips for the Best Chocolate Spider Trifle:

  • Get Creative with Layers: If you want to add more texture, try incorporating other candy pieces like mini chocolate chips or Halloween-themed sprinkles between the layers.
  • Make It Spookier: Add gummy worms or candy eyeballs around the trifle to enhance the Halloween theme.
  • Chill Time: For best results, let the trifle chill for a few hours or even overnight. This will allow the flavors to intensify and the layers to set beautifully.

This Chocolate Spider Trifle is not only an easy dessert to make but also a showstopper with its spooky web design. The combination of chocolate cake, creamy pudding, crunchy Oreos, and whipped topping is irresistibly delicious, making it the ultimate Halloween indulgence!
