This Chocolate Chip Banana Bread is a delightful twist on the classic, bringing together the natural sweetness of ripe bananas with a sprinkle of chocolate chips in every bite. With a hint of cinnamon and a mix of brown and white sugars, this banana bread is moist, soft, and packed with flavor—perfect for breakfast, a snack, or dessert!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ⅓ cups mashed bananas (about 3 medium)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×4-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add the chocolate chips and gently stir to coat them with the dry ingredients (this helps prevent sinking while baking).
  1. Combine Wet Ingredients
  • In a separate medium bowl, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla. Add the eggs one at a time, beating until smooth. Gently fold in the mashed bananas until just combined.
  1. Mix and Transfer to the Pan
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to a dense loaf.
  1. Bake the Bread
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few crumbs (this helps ensure a moist loaf).
  1. Cool and Serve
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Let it cool completely before slicing for best results.

Baking Tips

  • Ripe Bananas: For the best flavor and natural sweetness, use bananas with brown spots. The riper, the better!
  • Chocolate Chips: For added decadence, try a mix of milk and dark chocolate chips.
  • Storage: Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and store at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze slices individually for a quick treat.

Enjoy this delicious banana bread with a cup of coffee or a tall glass of milk for a sweet, comforting treat!
