This Chicken Crescent Roll Casserole is a comforting, crowd-pleasing dish that combines tender chicken, creamy filling, and flaky crescent rolls. Each roll is stuffed with a savory chicken mixture and topped with a creamy sauce, making it a perfect weeknight dinner option or an easy-to-make meal for gatherings.

Ingredients:

For the Casserole:

  • 2 (8 oz) cans Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls
  • 1 (10¾ oz) can cream of chicken soup (undiluted)
  • ¾ cup grated cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream

For the Filling:

  • 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 4 tbsp butter (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 large cooked chicken breasts, finely chopped (about 2 cups)
  • ½ cup finely grated cheddar cheese (for filling)
  • ½ tsp seasoning salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 2-4 tbsp heavy whipping cream

For Topping:

  • 1-2 cups grated cheddar cheese (for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prepare the Sauce
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter. In a small pot over medium heat, mix the cream of chicken soup, ¾ cup cheddar cheese, and ½ cup heavy whipping cream until the cheese melts and the mixture is smooth. Turn off the heat and set aside.
  2. Make the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, butter, and garlic powder with a fork until smooth. Add chopped chicken, onion, salt, pepper, ½ cup cheddar cheese, and 2-4 tablespoons of heavy cream. Mix until everything is well incorporated and creamy.
  3. Fill and Roll
Unroll the crescent rolls and place 1 tablespoon of the chicken filling onto the wider part of each crescent triangle. Roll each crescent, starting at the larger end, sealing in the filling as you go.
  4. Assemble the Casserole
Spread a small amount of the cream of chicken sauce at the bottom of the greased baking dish. Place the filled crescent rolls on top of the sauce. Pour the remaining sauce evenly over the rolls, then sprinkle the desired amount of grated cheddar cheese on top.
  5. Bake
Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • Creamy Filling: If you like a richer filling, increase the amount of cream cheese and heavy cream. For a lighter version, reduce the butter and cream slightly.
  • Customizable Filling: You can easily swap out the chicken for turkey or ham, or even add cooked veggies like spinach or mushrooms to the filling.
  • Seasoning Variations: Feel free to add some smoked paprika, chili flakes, or your favorite herbs for extra flavor.
  • Leftovers: This casserole reheats well, making it a great option for meal prep or next-day leftovers. Just store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

This Chicken Crescent Roll Casserole offers a cozy, cheesy, and flavorful dish that will be a hit with the whole family!
