Named after the famous Ohio treat, these brownies are a decadent dessert that’s sure to satisfy any chocolate and peanut butter lover. They are perfect for parties, gatherings, or just a delicious treat at home.

Ingredients
- For the Brownie Base:
- 1 (1 lb 6.5 oz) box Betty Crocker® Original Supreme brownie mix
- Water, vegetable oil, and eggs as called for on the brownie mix box
- For the Filling:
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter (avoid using natural peanut butter)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons milk
- For the Topping:
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup butter
Instructions
- Prepare the Brownie Base:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom only of a 13×9-inch baking pan with cooking spray or shortening. For easier cutting, line the pan with foil and then grease the foil on the bottom only.
- In a large bowl, prepare the brownie mix according to the package directions. Spread the brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake according to the package directions. Allow the brownies to cool completely, about 1 hour. You can speed up the cooling process by placing the brownies in the refrigerator.
- Make the Filling:
- In a medium bowl, beat together the butter, peanut butter, powdered sugar, and milk with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth.
- Spread the peanut butter mixture evenly over the cooled brownie layer.
- Prepare the Topping:
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, microwave the chocolate chips and butter uncovered on High for 30 to 60 seconds, stirring until smooth. Allow the chocolate to cool for 10 minutes.
- Spread the cooled chocolate mixture over the peanut butter layer.
- Set and Serve:
- Refrigerate the brownies for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate topping is set.
- For serving, cut the brownies into 9 rows by 4 rows. For best results, allow the brownies to come to room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving to soften the chocolate topping slightly.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Tips
- Lining the Pan: Using foil to line the baking pan makes it easier to lift out the entire batch of brownies for cutting.
- Peanut Butter Layer: Make sure the brownies are completely cooled before spreading the peanut butter mixture to prevent it from melting into the brownies.
- Chocolate Topping: Allowing the chocolate to cool slightly before spreading helps it set properly and not melt into the peanut butter layer.
- Serving: Letting the brownies sit at room temperature for a bit before serving helps the chocolate layer soften and makes cutting easier.
Enjoy these rich, creamy, and decadent Buckeye Brownies as a delightful treat for any occasion!
