This Black Bottom Bundt Cake is a show-stopping dessert, combining rich chocolate cake with a creamy cheesecake-like filling for a perfect flavor contrast. The cake’s moist chocolate base is complemented by a smooth cream cheese filling studded with mini chocolate chips, making each bite indulgent and satisfying. Topped with a glossy layer of melted chocolate frosting, this bundt cake is ideal for celebrations, family gatherings, or whenever you need a sweet treat that impresses both in taste and presentation.

Ingredients:

Cake:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1¼ cup water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ cup sour cream

Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips

Frosting:

  • 1 can prepared chocolate frosting

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Generously spray a bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray and dust lightly with flour to ensure easy removal of the cake. Set aside.
  2. Make the Cake Batter: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, oil, eggs, and sour cream. Use a hand-held mixer or stir by hand until the ingredients are fully incorporated and the batter is smooth. Pour ¾ of the prepared cake batter into the greased bundt pan, spreading it out evenly.
  3. Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling: In another bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, egg, sugar, and vanilla extract using a hand mixer or wooden spoon until creamy and smooth. Fold in the mini chocolate chips. Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the center of the cake batter in the bundt pan, taking care to avoid the edges. Pour the remaining cake batter over the cream cheese filling and use a spatula to spread it out, ensuring the filling is completely covered.
  4. Bake the Cake: Place the bundt pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Once baked, allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then invert it onto a cake plate and let it cool completely.
  5. Frost the Cake: Scoop the prepared chocolate frosting into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 20-25 seconds, or until the frosting becomes thin enough to pour. Drizzle the warm frosting over the cooled cake, allowing it to cascade down the sides for an elegant look. Serve immediately, or refrigerate until ready to enjoy.

Tips & Variations:

  • Bundt Pan Prep: Be sure to spray and flour your bundt pan thoroughly, getting into all the nooks and crannies to prevent sticking.
  • Cream Cheese Filling: For an even creamier filling, allow the cream cheese to fully soften before mixing it with the other ingredients. You can also experiment with adding different flavors by substituting the mini chocolate chips for butterscotch or white chocolate chips.
  • Microwave Frosting: Heating the frosting in short intervals makes it easy to drizzle over the cake. If the frosting gets too thin, let it sit for a minute to thicken up before pouring.
  • Add a Crunch: For extra texture, you can add crushed nuts such as pecans or walnuts to the top of the frosted cake or fold them into the cake batter.
  • Storage: This cake stores well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If you prefer warm cake, you can microwave individual slices for about 10 seconds before serving.

This Black Bottom Bundt Cake brings together the perfect blend of textures and flavors—rich chocolate, creamy cheesecake filling, and a smooth frosting finish—that will make it a crowd favorite every time.
