With simple ingredients and easy preparation, it’s a dish that’s sure to become a family favorite.

Biscuits and Gravy Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound sausage
  • 1 package of Pioneer Brand Peppered Sausage Gravy Mix
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 can Pillsbury Grands Biscuits

Instructions:

  1. Preparation: Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook Sausage: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.
  3. Prepare Gravy: In a medium bowl, whisk together the gravy mix and 1 cup of water until smooth. Pour the gravy mixture into the skillet with the cooked sausage, stirring to combine. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the gravy thickens.
  4. Add Cheese: Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined with the gravy and sausage mixture.
  5. Prepare Egg Mixture: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well blended.
  6. Assemble Casserole: Spread the sausage gravy mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Pour the egg mixture over the top of the gravy. Finally, place the biscuits on top of the casserole.
  7. Bake: Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the eggs are set.
  8. Serve: Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and serve warm.

Tips:

  • Customization: Feel free to customize this casserole by adding diced vegetables like bell peppers or onions for extra flavor and texture.
  • Make-Ahead: Prepare the sausage gravy mixture and egg mixture in advance and store them separately in the refrigerator overnight. Assemble the casserole just before baking for a quick and easy breakfast option.
  • Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Reheat individual servings in the microwave or oven before serving.
  • Variation: Experiment with different types of sausage or gravy mixes to create your own unique flavor combinations.
  • Garnish: Sprinkle chopped parsley or green onions on top of the casserole before serving for a fresh and vibrant touch. Enjoy this comforting breakfast casserole with your family and friends!
