Beef tips and gravy is a classic comfort food dish that’s hearty, savory, and perfect for cozy dinners. This recipe takes tender beef stew meat and simmers it in a flavorful mushroom gravy until it’s melt-in-your-mouth tender. It’s easy to prepare with just a few simple ingredients and cooked to perfection in the slow cooker. Whether served over egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes, this dish is sure to satisfy your craving for a comforting and satisfying meal.

Ingredients:

  • Beef Stew Meat: Tender chunks of beef stew meat are the star of this dish, providing rich flavor and texture.
  • Condensed Mushroom Soup Cream: Adds creaminess and depth of flavor to the gravy.
  • Brown Gravy Mix: Provides additional flavor and helps thicken the gravy.
  • Beef Broth: Enhances the beefy flavor of the dish and adds moisture to the gravy.
  • Onion and Garlic: Adds aromatic flavor to the dish, complementing the beef and gravy.
  • Cornstarch: Used as a thickening agent to achieve the desired consistency of the gravy.

How To Make It:

  1. Prepare the Gravy Mixture: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the condensed mushroom soup cream, brown gravy mix, beef broth, diced onion, and minced garlic until well combined.
  2. Cook the Beef: Place the beef stew meat in a slow cooker and pour the gravy mixture over it. Gently mix to combine.
  3. Slow Cook: Cook the beef on LOW for seven hours, allowing it to simmer and tenderize in the flavorful gravy.
  4. Thicken the Gravy: Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and set it aside. Stir in the cornstarch/water mixture into the gravy to thicken it. Return the beef to the slow cooker and simmer for an additional 5 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened.
  5. Serve: Serve the beef tips and gravy over your choice of accompaniment, such as egg noodles, cooked rice, or mashed potatoes.

Recipe Tips:

  • For added flavor, consider adding sliced mushrooms to the gravy mixture for a delicious earthy taste.
  • To prevent overcrowding the pan and ensure proper browning of the meat, cook the beef in batches if necessary.
  • Adding a drop of heavy cream to the gravy can enhance its richness and add extra creaminess.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days and reheated for easy and delicious meals throughout the week.
