Ingredients:
- Chicken wings
- Salt and pepper
- Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce
- Open Pit barbecue sauce
- Honey
- Brown sugar
- Prepared mustard
- Worcestershire sauce
- Onion salt
- Tabasco (optional)
How To Make It:
- Prepare the Chicken: Rinse the chicken wings and pat them dry. Remove and discard the wingtips. Sprinkle the wings with salt and pepper and place them on a broiler pan or baking sheet lined with foil.
- Broil the Wings: Broil the chicken wings for 20 minutes, turning them once during the middle of broiling, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, combine the Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce, Open Pit barbecue sauce, honey, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion salt, and Tabasco (if using). Stir until well combined.
- Cook the Wings: Transfer the broiled chicken wings to a slow cooker. Pour the sauce over the wings, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or on high for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Alternatively, you can place the chicken in a foil-lined baking dish, coat with sauce, and bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 350°F. Turn the wings over, coat them again with sauce, and bake for another 30 minutes.
Recipe Tips:
- For extra crispy wings, you can broil or bake them for a few additional minutes after coating them with sauce.
- Adjust the amount of Tabasco to suit your spice preference.
- Serve the BBQ wings with celery sticks, carrot sticks, and ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
- These wings can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving. Just store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
