Banana Split Trifle is a delightful and visually stunning dessert that brings the classic flavors of a banana split into a layered masterpiece. It’s perfect for gatherings and celebrations, showcasing layers of cake, fruits, pudding, and other delicious toppings.

Banana Split Trifle

Ingredients:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix, angel food cake mix, or even chocolate cake mix
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding (please do not use banana-flavored)
  • 3 large bananas, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries
  • 1 1/2 – 2 cups chopped fresh pineapple (or 6 ounces of crushed pineapple, drained)
  • 1 container whipped cream, cold and thawed
  • 1 jar maraschino cherries, cut into halves
  • 1/2 cup pecan nuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate syrup

How To Make Banana Split Trifle:

  1. Prepare the Cake:
  • Bake the cake according to the instructions on the box.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely before assembling the trifle.
  1. Cut Cake into Pieces:
  • Cut the cooled cake into bite-sized pieces.
  1. Prepare Pudding Mixture:
  • In a separate bowl, prepare the instant vanilla pudding according to the package instructions.
  1. Assemble the Trifle:
  • In a large, transparent bowl (a trifle dish or a clear salad bowl works well), layer the ingredients for a visually appealing presentation.
  • Begin with half of the cake pieces as the first layer.
  1. Layering:
  • Decorate the cake layer with half of the prepared vanilla pudding, followed by half of the sliced bananas, strawberries, chopped pineapple, whipped cream, maraschino cherries, chocolate syrup, and nuts (optional).
  1. Repeat Layering:
  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients in the same order.
  1. Chill:
  • Allow the trifle to chill until ready to serve.

Tips:

  • Ensure the cake is fully cooled before cutting it into bite-sized pieces. This prevents the cake from crumbling excessively during assembly.
  • Using a transparent bowl allows you to showcase the beautiful layers of the trifle, making it an eye-catching dessert for any occasion.
  • Layering is key to creating a well-balanced trifle. Each layer contributes to the overall flavor and texture of the dessert.
  • It’s recommended not to let the pudding set completely before assembling the trifle. This allows the pudding to seep between the cake pieces, adding moisture and flavor.
  • Customize the trifle by adding your favorite toppings or adjusting the quantity of ingredients based on personal preferences.
  • The combination of bananas, strawberries, pineapple, whipped cream, cherries, and nuts creates a symphony of flavors and textures reminiscent of a classic banana split.

This Banana Split Trifle is not only a treat for the taste buds but also a stunning centerpiece for your dessert table. Enjoy the layers of goodness and the fruity, creamy indulgence in every spoonful!
