These Jalapeño Poppers are the ultimate snack or appetizer for any occasion! Filled with a creamy, cheesy mixture of cream cheese, sharp cheddar, and garlic powder, each jalapeño is then topped with crispy, buttery Panko breadcrumbs for a satisfying crunch. Baking the poppers instead of frying makes them lighter and lets the flavors of the spicy jalapeño and rich cheese really shine. Serve these up at game day gatherings, parties, or as a side for an extra kick!

Ingredients

  • 12 fresh jalapeños
  • 6 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh chives
  • ¼ cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  1. Prepare the Jalapeños
  • Wearing gloves, slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise. Use a small spoon to carefully scoop out the seeds and membranes to reduce the heat.
  1. Make the Filling
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, garlic powder, shredded cheddar cheese, and chives. Mix until smooth and evenly combined.
  1. Prepare the Topping
  • In a separate small bowl, stir together the Panko breadcrumbs and melted butter until the crumbs are evenly coated.
  1. Assemble the Poppers
  • Spoon the cheese mixture into each jalapeño half, filling generously. Sprinkle the Panko topping over the cheese filling in each popper.
  1. Bake
  • Arrange the filled jalapeños on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes, or until the tops are golden and the filling is bubbly.
  1. Serve
  • Let the poppers cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!

Tips for Perfect Jalapeño Poppers

  • Handle with Care: Use gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid any irritation from the natural oils, which can be spicy.
  • Adjust the Heat: Removing seeds and membranes will reduce the spiciness, but if you love extra heat, leave a few seeds in the filling for a spicier bite.
  • Cheese Substitutions: Experiment with different cheeses like pepper jack or smoked gouda for a unique flavor twist.
  • Make Ahead: These poppers can be prepped ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator. Just pop them in the oven when you’re ready to serve.

These Jalapeño Poppers are a spicy, cheesy treat that’s easy to make and even easier to enjoy—perfect for any occasion!
