This Apple Spice Fritter Bread is a delightful treat, perfect for breakfast or as a dessert. The combination of sweet apples, warm spices, and a tender crumb makes this bread irresistibly delicious. The cinnamon-sugar topping adds a delightful crunch that complements the soft, moist interior.

Ingredients:

  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon plus 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ⅔ cup sugar plus 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 ¾ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×5-inch glass loaf pan with baking spray.
  1. Make Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:
  • In a small bowl, mix together ⅓ cup light brown sugar and 1 tsp ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  1. Prepare the Batter:
  • In a large bowl, beat together ⅔ cup sugar and ½ cup unsalted butter until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  • Mix in 1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract.
  1. Combine Dry Ingredients:
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups flour and 1 ¾ tsp baking powder.
  1. Finish the Batter:
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Mix in ½ cup whole milk until the batter is smooth.
  1. Assemble the Bread:
  • Scoop half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Layer the chopped apples evenly over the batter.
  • Cover the apples with the remaining batter, spreading it out smoothly.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the top of the batter, gently pressing it into the surface.
  1. Bake:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
  1. Cool:
  • Allow the bread to cool completely in the pan before removing and slicing.

Description and Tips:

This Apple Spice Fritter Bread combines the classic flavors of apple and cinnamon in a moist, tender loaf. The Granny Smith apples provide a slight tartness that balances the sweetness of the bread, while the cinnamon-sugar topping adds a delightful crunch.

Tips:

  • Apple Choice: Granny Smith apples are preferred for their tartness and firm texture, which hold up well during baking.
  • Baking Time: Ovens can vary, so start checking for doneness at the 50-minute mark. The bread is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Layering: Ensure the apples are spread evenly over the first layer of batter to create a balanced distribution of apple chunks throughout the bread.
  • Cooling: Let the bread cool completely before slicing to ensure it holds its shape and the flavors fully develop.

Enjoy this delicious Apple Spice Fritter Bread warm with a pat of butter, or serve it as a sweet treat for any time of the day!
