Indulge in the irresistible combination of warm, cinnamon-spiced apples tucked inside crispy, golden tortilla shells with these delicious Apple Pie Tacos. Perfect for dessert or a sweet treat anytime, these tacos offer a fun twist on classic apple pie flavors. Here’s how to whip up a batch of these delightful treats:

Ingredients:

  • 4 Apples, peeled & sliced
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • ½ tsp Nutmeg
  • ½ cup Water
  • 6″ flour Tortillas
  • Oil (for frying tortillas)
  • ½ cup sugar-cinnamon mixture
  • Whipped cream

How To Make Apple Pie Tacos:

  1. Prepare the Apple Pie Filling:
  • In a saucepan, combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water.
  • Stir until well blended, then cover and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, for about 10 minutes or until the apples are semi-soft.
  • If needed, thicken the sauce by mixing 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 3-4 tablespoons of water. Add the mixture to the saucepan and stir until thickened.
  1. Fry the Tortillas:
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Fold each tortilla in half to create a taco shell shape. Place the bottom half of the tortilla in the hot oil for a few seconds, then lay it on one side until browned. Flip and brown the other side. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  1. Coat with Sugar-Cinnamon Mixture:
  • While still warm, sprinkle each browned tortilla with the sugar-cinnamon mixture, coating both sides evenly.
  1. Assemble the Apple Pie Tacos:
  • Fill each taco shell with the prepared apple pie filling.
  • Top with a dollop of whipped cream, and sprinkle a little more of the sugar-cinnamon mixture on top for an extra burst of flavor.

Tips:

  • Choose firm and slightly tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best texture and flavor in the filling.
  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying the tortillas to achieve a crispy texture.
  • Be cautious when handling hot oil to avoid any accidents.
  • Customize the toppings to your liking by adding a drizzle of caramel sauce, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or chopped nuts.
  • Serve these Apple Pie Tacos immediately for the best taste and texture, as the tortillas may become soggy over time.
  • These tacos are best enjoyed fresh, but any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheated in the oven for a crispy finish.
