This Amish Apple Bread is the perfect combination of sweet apples, rich cinnamon, and a buttery, tender crumb. It’s a comforting, homemade loaf that fills your kitchen with the warm aroma of fall spices. This delightful bread is easy to make and offers a deliciously moist texture, complemented by soft apple chunks in every bite.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup butter, at room temperature
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups apples, chopped and diced

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  1. Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture:
  • In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside for layering later.
  1. Cream the Butter and Sugar:
  • In a stand mixer or with a hand mixer, beat the granulated sugar and butter together until light and fluffy. This will take about 2-3 minutes.
  1. Add the Wet Ingredients:
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.
  1. Combine Dry Ingredients:
  • On low speed, slowly add the flour and baking powder to the butter mixture, alternating with the heavy whipping cream. Mix just until combined. Be careful not to overmix for a tender crumb.
  1. Layer the Batter and Apples:
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Evenly spread half of the chopped apples over the batter, followed by half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Add the remaining batter on top, followed by the remaining apples and the rest of the cinnamon-sugar.
  1. Bake:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover the bread with foil during the last 10-15 minutes of baking.
  1. Cool:
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack to finish cooling completely.

Description and Tips:

This Amish Apple Bread is a rustic treat, perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a cozy afternoon snack. The combination of the buttery, tender crumb and the tart sweetness of fresh apples creates an irresistible balance of flavors. To make this bread even better:

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp to balance the sweetness of the batter.
  • Add texture by sprinkling chopped walnuts or pecans on top of the final layer before baking.
  • Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent treat.
  • Freezing tip: This bread freezes beautifully. Just wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and foil, then freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge.

Enjoy this sweet, spiced apple bread with a cup of coffee or tea for a cozy treat!
